50 Parties, 12 Photos

The first of the 50 Parties was held on August 21 at the Velvet Underground in Singapore. The 2nd party was in Cape Town, on September 15. Deer Park Café, on the lower slopes of Table Mountain, was the well-chosen venue. Their chocolate cake is delicious. (What's this all Partying about? Carly Ritz of The Times explains.)

Right of centre, with award-winning beard, is Jimmy Wales, he of Wikipedia, and on his left, Heather Ford (iCommons exec) being introduced by marketing geek Dave Duarte (far right, with mic).

The ratio n(People) : n(Computers) is still pretty bad in South Africa.

These guys are working to remedy the situation, and their nifty "Linux Inside"-decaled device drew lots of attention.

This puzzling thing was laid out on the floor.
