Moon and Venus (2009 Feb 28)
On Saturday, February 28, get out your telescope and look at Venus, and then glance up at the nearby Moon.
The beautiful pair will be playing "Simon Says", when the phase of Venus – as seen through the telescope – will look very similar to the Moon, seen with the naked eye.
More precisely, as seen from our terrestrial vantage point, 14% of the Moon will be lit, while 19% of Venus' disk will be in sunlight. OK, so what's 5% between celestial friends?
This pairing will be a challenge to represent photographically. The gauntlet is cast.
nothing more to see. please move along.
