NGC 5236

185 Centauri, Lacaille I.6,
Messier 83, Bennett 63

Posted 2007 June 11

Percy imaged NGC 5236 with a Takahashi-130 and 1.6 tele-extender, using a Hutech light pollution reducing filter, and a SBIG-8XE CCD, from his Sirius Dome, just 1km from Sandton City. Multiple images were stacked to create the detailed view above: ten 10-minute exposures for luminescence, and three 10-minute exposures for red, green, and blue. The frames were combined and processed in Maxim DL and Photoshop CS.
