Southern Star Trails

George mounted his Canon ESO 350D with an 18mm lens on a tripod and, aiming it at the south celestial pole, exposed for 2586 seconds (43 minutes to the rest of us). The lens was set at f/4.0 and the ISO to 100.

So doing, he was able, with the application of Geometry 101, to "verify that the Earth spins around its own axis in 24 hours," disproving the popularly held "Great A'Tuin" theory, about which more can be read here.
