comet

2007 January 18, Thursday. Comet from Johannesburg, by Chris Stewart. Chris writes that he was planning to head for the Observatory, which would mean getting stuck in traffic and driving through a storm. "As I approached Roodepoort, I passed through the tail end of the storm and saw clear sky ahead, with just a few small clouds lurking ominously. So I set up in the field behind my place, with a relatively unobstructed foreground but without the elevation advantage and clear horison afforded by the observatory. The twilight remained rather bright, so I did not have too long between spotting the comet and its disappearance. Nevertheless, a good view."
