2007 January 16, Tuesday. Photographed by Reinderd from Hartenbos, who says that, despite having since seen the comet much better, this was his first view, caught in a 10 minute gap in the clouds. "In Oudtshoorn," he writes, "dozens of non-astronomers drive out of town to view the comet ... which is a beautiful sight in the Karoo skies."
