Silver Coin Galaxy (NGC 253)

George calls his image "not so great". I happily disagree.

This splendid galaxy, No. 5 on the Top 100 Deepsky Objects list, lies in Sculptor and can be seen in binoculars, September to February. The first person ever to see this galaxy, as far as I know, was Sir John Herschel, on 20 November 1835, while he was staying in Cape Town. I wonder why James Dunlop did not record it?
