From Sutherland, on the weekend of 2007 April 07, Ferdi imaged the sky around Crux. Right of centre is Crux, the Coalsack dark nebula, and parts of Musca. Northern Centaurus can be seen in the left-hand side of the image; the bright star at bottom centre is beta Centauri. The stunning globular cluster omega Centauri is the bright "star" to the left of beta. At top, right at least three bright deepsky favourites can be seen: the beautiful open cluster NGC 3532, the eta Carinae nebula, and IC 2602. The field is about 37° wide.
