Update on the 2004 article. I'd like to thank Philipp Teutsch for examining the potential objects I came across; his comments and analysis greatly informed my efforts to see if, just perhaps, those dedicated (and to risk a pun, focussed) astrometrists of a century and a half ago had netted a deep sky object or two.
